Thrill Me Fool Gold Book 20 Susan Mallery Books
Writing a series like Fool’s Gold encourages use of continuing plot elements which make the reader feel “at home” almost from the first page. It also challenges the author to develop new characters for each book, while allowing familiar characters into the story. Last but not least, readers expect enough new plot aspects to make the stories more than just an update of past novels.Susan Mallery does this well.
In “Thrill Me,” two secondary characters from earlier books in the series take center stage. Maya Farlow came to Fool’s Gold at sixteen when her mother’s most recent of her serial boyfriends brought them to the Nicholson ranch. It was the first time in her life that Maya felt loved or cared for. Del Mitchell, a good friend to the Nicholson boys, and Maya first became friends, then lovers by the time she was eighteen. Del asked her to marry him. Maya originally liked the idea, but her history growing up made it impossible for her to trust anyone. She has never witnessed a loving relationship. His proposal terrified her, and she abruptly dumped him – brutally.
Mayor Marsha recently hired Maya away from her TV job in Los Angeles to be Fool’s Gold communication director. Her first task is to develop a series of PR videos promoting tourism in Fool’s Gold. They agree that they need someone moderately well-known to participate in and narrate the videos. Mayor Marsha has the perfect solution – Del Mitchell is back in town f or a month or two, and she has hired him for the role.
Both of them are surprised. Both think they have outgrown their past, so they should be able to work together. The also each realize a continuing attraction, but neither of them are ready to trust the other in a romantic relationship. As they work together, they begin to build a shared relationship beyond their work – and then it blows up again.
Very well done.

Thrill Me Fool Gold Book 20 Susan Mallery Books Reviews
Maya Farlow came back to Fool's Gold thinking it was what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. She has taken a job as the towns new Communications Director. She is responsible for videos promoting the towns new slogan and general tourism.
The celebrity spokesperson that has been hired for the videos Maya will be doing is Del Mitchell, the man she was in love with a decade ago. The man that she lied to and then ran right out of town from.
Del Mitchell was Fool's Golds bad boy. One of four boys was always into something. Ten years ago had been in love with Maya Farlow, was ready to get married and settle down. Then she broke his heart and lied to him. While gone he made a name for himself and now has sold his company and returned for his dad's birthday and the summer to figure what is next for himself.
Maya and Del work well together. Get to know each other again as adults. They like each other and become friends. They both realize that there are sparks between them but both are hesitant to see where those sparks could lead. Maya feels settled in Fool's Gold and is happy with her life there, and knows that Del is only home for the summer. Del knows that Maya is happy in Fool's Gold and doesn't want to travel and he is only there for the summer and then off to travel the world. Del is also afraid to try and trust Maya, after all she lied to him ten years ago wouldn't she do it again. He can't trust her.
As their relationship evolves it will bring in more of he Fool's Gold gang we all love, and it will also show us Del's family as well. There is more to Del's family in this story as the romance grows and will make things a bit more serious, but Maya and Del have a very snarky wit about them to lighten the story back up.
I gave Thrill Me a five star rating because of the romantic emotions Susan Mallery brings out in her main characters. I like that she makes me think I'm on top of any secrets that she could throw at me. I couldn't be more wrong. While reading about the many friends who I've become acquainted with from other books about Fool's Gold, I feel as if I've returned home to the small town life to rest yet knowing it won't be long prior to having the itch to move on once again.
This book of the series portrayed Del and Maya. They were very much in love, but issues of not revealing Maya's real reason for breaking Del"s heart minus not letting him in to the real truth made their ten years separation difficult, to say the least. They will have good times during their working side by side and some difficult times which will prevent their working together-at all. The few flaws coming from Del and Maya will keep you guessing right up until the end. I so enjoy her endings as they seldom let you
I an purposely omitting the one most important jest of this great book. It was such a shocker to me which keeps me coming back for many more unexpected plots that make Susan Mallery the great author she most certainly is.
I hope your feelings for this book will be as entertaining.
