This book was an attention grabber. I only wish it was longer. I can not wait for Samuel Parkers next book!!! Loved every chapter of suspense.
hard to figure at first but comes together later
GOOD BOOK
Just discovered this book after reading about the author in a Grand Rapids magazine. I'm not an avid reader, but finished this book in 3 days. I couldn't put it down. Very unpredictable and full of suspense.
The short chapters were great. The book started out being promising but dragged on. Too much focus on glamorizing the evil and not the good. The short chapters teased me in believing the story would get better. I was tempted to not finish. I did not like this book at all and threw it away after finishing it. I'll never get those wasted hours back. I'm sticking with non-fiction books from now on.
Purgatory would be not having Samuel Parker writing his amazing books! He's an excellent storyteller, especially when it comes to tales with a supernatural aspect, but like all great writers, his real talent lies in his realistic and believable characters. Characters who pull you in and make you believe in them and care about them. Add a great story and a sense of mystery and it's a recipe for amazing reading. He's good. Very good.
I bought this book a while ago and kept putting off reading it because, well, life got in the way. I finally picked it up this week and am so glad I did. I love the story, it kept me interested the entire time. I felt it was neither trite, nor predictable. Don't get me wrong, there were a few characters in this book I absolutely despised, but not because they were poorly written, but because they were so well written. I definitely recommend giving this book a go. It was a page turner, for sure.
